According to the Global Forest Watch (GFW) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Portugal is considered the fourth country in the world with the highest rate of deforestation in the 21st century.
With the aim of breaking down these figures, over the last three years MAAP (MA Automotive Portugal) has planted 4,000 trees on nearby forest land provided by the local authorities.
In order to increase the number of trees on MAAP facilities, we decided to plant 6 trees, one for each year of MAAP's existence (6 years).
These are the Planted trees:
- 3 Amber trees - Liquidambar styraciflua;
- 2 Ash trees - Fraxinus angustifólia
- 1 Poplar - Populus nigra
We will also plant 1,000 trees in September 2024. The trees will be planted on land provided by local authorities.
