CLN Group has applied for membership of ResponsibleSteel effective January 2020.
A plant visit with Alan Knight, AM General manager for Sustainable Development and Corporate Responsibility, is being set up for early 2020 to see how an MA plant fits into the chain for the project. It has been chosen one of the German MA plants because they also serve Mercedes/BMW, who are also members of ResponsibleSteel.
The rationale for CLN Group membership :
CLN companies are Tier Ones using steel as their primary input.
Multi-stakeholder forum approach of ResponsibleSteel requires Tier Ones that ‘link’ the steel to the final manufacturer (in this case Automotive OEMs)
Daimler and BMW are Business Members of ResponsibleSteel. Both are customers of CLN Group and Daimler in particular is setting tough targets for the MA plants in Germany.
MA plants in Germany could be among the Tier Ones to test the standards/audits between steel coil and final OEM component, working closely with ArcelorMittal and Daimler/BMW.
